Education Pathways Program: Your Road to Teaching Certification
For Non-Education Majors Looking To Get Certified
Are you passionate about teaching and ready to take the next step toward becoming a certified educator? ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú’s Pathways Program is designed for seniors and advanced juniors interested in pursuing a teaching certificate after graduation.
Programs you can begin your graduate level certification work in:
- Music
- Art
- Special Education
- Early Childhood Education
- Secondary 7-12
- General Science
- Biology
- English
- Mathematics
Program Highlights:
- Earn Graduate Credits Early: Take graduate-level courses during your undergraduate curriculum.
- Fast-Track Your Master's Degree: Apply earned credits toward a master’s degree, which you can complete in either one or two years after completing your undergraduate degree. Duration depends on your chosen program.
- Flexible Certification Options: While the state of Pennsylvania requires a bachelor's degree to commit to a program, there’s no specific major required for certification. However, we recommend aligning your subject area with the certification field (e.g. English majors pursuing a 7–12 teaching certification).
- Accelerated Path to Certification: Complete your graduate studies and begin your teaching career sooner.
Entrance Requirements:
To be eligible for the Pathways Program, students must:
- Have a 3.0 GPA or above
- Obtain advisor approval
- Complete an application for the Pathways Program
- Meet with an education advisor
- Be registered for courses
Please inquire if pursuing a teaching certification outside of your field (e.g. a history major pursuing an English 7–12 certification) would be a good fit for you.
